Building Materials Database
During the application process, you will be asked to compile a list of the products you intend to use inside the Building Materials Database.
The database consists of Ecolabelled products, either carrying the Nordic Swan Ecolabel or the EU Ecolabel, as well as products whose manufacturer has applied for a listing in the database. The manufacturer has provided documents proving criteria fulfilment which has been examined by Nordic Ecolabelling staff.
Should you wish to use products which are not to be found in the database, you must contact the manufacturer of that product and ask him or her to add the product to the database, together with relevant documentation. Only products in the Building Materials Database may be used in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled building products.
Please, refer the manufacturer here for further information

Add products to your list of materials:
Once you have received your login information you may access the database and start adding the products you will use in your project to your list of materials. The first time you compile the list of materials, you might be helped by first looking at the detailed step-by-step tutorial. There is also a tutorial video in Swedish available on Youtube.
The building materials database is currently only available in English. However, all product types used in the database have been translated into all the Nordic languages.
Different statuses for products in the database
You will notice that products in the database will have different statuses, and their meaning is important for you as applicant to understand:
Approved: All products, either carrying the Nordic Swan Ecolabel or the EU Ecolabel are automatically approved to be used in a Nordic Swan Ecolabelled building project.
Listed: These products are not Ecolabelled. They are however also approved to be used in a Nordic Swan Ecolabelled building project. The producer of the product has applied to have the products listed in the database and also provided Nordic Ecolabelling with relevant documentation to show fulfillment of the criteria.
Application registered: A product with this status has been added to the database by the producer along with documentation, but the product has not yet been examined by Nordic Ecolabelling staff. You may however add the product to your list of materials. Once you do, the documentation will be reviewed. Should the product comply with the criteria, its status will change to “listed”.
Missing a product? Contact the producer!
Only products which may be found in the Building Materials Database are to be used in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled building projects, according to generation three of our criteria for Small houses, apartment buildings and buildings for schools and pre-schools. If you cannot find a product which you intended to use, please contact the producer of that product and ask him or her to apply for a listing in Nordic Ecolabel’s Building Materials Database.
The producer will need to sign a user agreement in order to gain access to the database.
